Release Date : January 5, 2023
File Size : 0.95 MB

Abstract

At the end of 2022, Jakarta inflation sped up  again. The  price  index  for  a number of goods and services increased ahead of Christmas, New Years and school holidays. Year-on-year  (yoy) inflation  in December 2022 was 4.21 percent, up 0.10 percentage point compared to the previous month. The inflation rate at the end of this year was also far above the December 2021 yoy inflation which was only 1.53 percent.
The main contributors to yoy inflation this time  were  gasoline, household  fuels, and house contracts. The increase in gasoline prices pushed the transport expenditure category to become the largest contributor to inflation.  Meanwhile,  household  fuels and house contracts drove the expenditure category of housing, water, electricity and household fuels to contributed substantially to inflation.
Similarly, when viewed on a month-to-month (mtm) basis, Jakarta  inflation  has increased compared to last month, namely from 0.05 percent in November 2022 to 0.55 percent in December 2022. Commodities contributing to inflation include house contracts (0.170 percent),  rice  (0.067  percent),  and eggs (0.046 percent).
