Release Date : December 29, 2022
File Size : 1.79 MB

Abstract

The economy of Jakarta was moving positively amid the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The continuous rising of the domestic economy caused domestic demand to increase. This rise was reflected in Jakarta’s cumulative import value (c-to-c) in January-October 2022 was increased by 26.62 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.
In October 2022, Jakarta’s import value reached US$ 6,394.30 million. The value of imports increased by 17.02 percent compared to October 2021. Increased imports in the oil and gas and non-oil and gas sectors mainly triggered the rise in import value.
Meanwhile, on a month-to-month basis, the value of imports in October 2022 fell slightly by 2.69 percent. The decrease occurred due to the decline in mineral fuel commodities which fell 29.85 percent, followed by machinery and mechanical equipment and their parts which fell by 9.72 percent compared to previous month.
Based on the Broad Economic Categories (BEC) classification, all groups increased compared to the same month in the previous year. Imports of consumer goods increased by 24.85 percent, followed by increased imports of capital goods by 20.95 percent, and intermediate goods increased by 14.33 percent. This rise indicated increased domestic demand and positive movement in Jakarta’s economic recovery.
