Abstract

In the last month of the third quarter of 2022, Jakarta was still facing the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected public health and the domestic economy. In addition to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the current Russia-Ukraine war has impacted the uncertainty of the world economy, which indirectly influenced the economy of Jakarta. Following this condition, the increase in the prices of food materials and commodities, including fuel, will affect the performance of industries and households. Nevertheless, the government’s anticipation efforts with various fiscal and monetary policies provide optimism for the domestic economy to perform positively.
In September 2022, Jakarta’s imports reached US$ 6,571.2 million. While imports decreased by 13.6 percent compared to August 2022 (month-to-month), the figures positively grew by 19.3 percent compared to September 2021 (year-on-year). Import growth during this period was mainly driven by the rise in imports of the oil and gas and non-oil and gas sectors.
The broad economic categories (BEC) classification showed an increase in all groups compared to the same period in the previous year. Although year-on-year import growth slowed during this period, the economic recovery continuously improved compared to last year.
