Abstract

The dynamics of the global economy have not fully recovered from the wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The fact that the world is moving towards a recession cannot be separated from the current state of uncertainty in the world economy. The indications are that several countries have started to reduce their production due to declining global demand, which has an impact on the disruption of foreign trade chains. In the midst of this uncertainty, Jakarta’s exports still grew positively. Both, month-to-month and year-on-year, Jakarta’s exports have increased again.
In September 2022, Jakarta’s exports again penetrated US$ 1 billion, growing 0.9 percent compared to the previous month (month to month). This is the third time in 2022. The main commodities driving Jakarta’s export increase are animal or vegetable fats and oils, electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof, vehicles and accessories thereof, and fish, crustaceans and mollusca.
In line with the month-to-month export growth, year-on-year exports also showed positive growth. Exports for September 2022 rose 5.8 percent when compared to the same month a year earlier. The main commodities driving the increase are animal or vegetable fats and oils, soap and washing preparation, vehicles and accessories thereof, and fish, crustaceans and mollusca.
